Questions we get

If yours is not here, call and ask.

How do I get a price?

We come out and look at it. Price depends on the square footage, the material you pick, how much has to come out first, and what the site needs before anything goes down. Those are things we can only see on site, so the estimate is free and in person rather than over the phone.

What actually goes under the pavers?

Excavation down to stable ground, a compacted aggregate base, a bedding layer, then the paver. Edge restraint goes along every open edge and polymeric sand goes in the joints. The base is the part nobody ever sees and the part that decides how the surface ages.

My pavers are sinking. Do I have to start over?

Usually not. Sinking is almost always the base, not the paver. We lift the affected pavers, fix what is underneath, and set the same pavers back. If the base has failed across a whole area we will tell you, because relaying a small section there only moves the problem a few feet.

Do pavers need to be sealed?

Sealing is maintenance, not a requirement. It slows UV fading, deepens the colour, and makes spills easier to lift. On concrete pavers it is worth repeating periodically. It is not a permanent coating and we would rather say that than sell it as one.

What keeps weeds and ants out of the joints?

Polymeric sand. It goes into the joints and sets, which locks the field together and shuts the gaps that weeds and ants get started in. Joints wash out over the years, which is why re-sanding is part of cleaning and sealing.

Can you match pavers I already have?

Sometimes. Manufacturers discontinue colours and blends, and pavers that have been in the Florida sun for years have moved away from the colour they started as. We will look at what you have and tell you honestly how close a match is going to get.

Clay, concrete, travertine, or porcelain?

Clay has the highest compressive strength and holds its colour, because the colour is the fired clay rather than a surface coat. Concrete gives the widest choice of pattern and colour and takes a sealer well. Travertine stays cooler underfoot, which is why it shows up around pools. Porcelain absorbs almost nothing, so sunscreen, chlorine, and cooking grease wipe off it.

My HOA has to approve it. Can you help?

Yes. We put together the material and layout details you need to submit. The approval itself comes from your association on their schedule, so it is worth starting that before you want the work to begin.

Do you work around an existing pool?

Yes. Deck and coping are usually replaced together. Doing them at once means one mobilization and a joint between the two that was planned rather than inherited.

Which areas do you cover?

Sarasota, Manatee, Hillsborough, Pasco, DeSoto and Polk counties, and the cities around them. If you are not sure whether you are inside that, call and ask.

Ready for an estimate?
