Brick pavers and hardscape.
Repair and Releveling
When pavers sink, lift, or open up at the joints, the paver is almost never the problem. What moved is underneath it, and that can normally be fixed without tearing out the whole surface.
What causes it
A base that was not compacted properly, water finding a path under the surface, a washed-out edge with no restraint, or roots. Each one leaves a different pattern, which is why the first step is looking at it rather than quoting it over the phone.
How a repair works
We lift the affected pavers, fix what is underneath, and set the same pavers back. Because they come up whole, the field usually goes back looking the way it did, which is the part most people do not expect.
When it is more than a repair
Sometimes the base is gone across a whole area and relaying a small section only moves the problem a few feet. We will tell you when that is the case rather than doing the small job twice.
What the job includes
- Sunken and lifted pavers
- Open and washed-out joints
- Failed or missing edge restraint
- Root damage
- Existing pavers lifted and reset
- Honest call when a repair is not enough
Exactly what is and is not included goes in writing on your estimate.
How it goes
You will know what is happening at each stage
Three stages, and we tell you which one you are in.
On-site estimate
We come to you, measure, look at what is there now, and find out where the water goes. You get a written estimate that lists the material, the work, and what is not included.
Installation
Removal and haul-off, excavation to stable ground, a compacted base, then the bedding layer and the paver. Edge restraint on the open edges, polymeric sand in the joints, and the site cleaned down at the end.
Sealing and care
Cleaning, re-sanding the joints, and sealing when the surface is ready for it. This is the part that decides whether you are maintaining a deck in a few years or rebuilding one.
